Last Saturday, the ‘Holland Vier’ tested visual real-time feedback on power presented by an android smartphone. The smartphone is connected with Peach and an external GPS in order to give feedback about for example forces on the oars and velocity and acceleration of the boat. Rowers were able to see the amount of power they delivered every stroke and the average amount of power they delivered for a certain number of strokes. They could easily reset the average power whenever they wanted. Besides power, also stroke rate and velocity were visible. Some more pilots will be done before they start to train with the real-time feedback.
