Last week, the FISA and the British Rowing team organized the Rowing’s World Sports Science and Medicine conference hosted in Marlow (Steve Redgrave’s hometown). The aim of the conference was to transfer sport science and medicine to boat speed. Scientists, coaches, and technical and medical staff of several national rowing teams came together to share knowledge. RowingScience was invited to give two presentations: Mathijs Hofmijster took the stage to present a study on how to monitor freshmen rowers. Lotte Lintmeijer explained part of her project with the focus on the effect of power loss due to velocity fluctuations during steady-state rowing.
